To mark World Recycling Day on March 18, the Haute Maurienne Vanoise Tourist Office (OT HMV) donated its old outfits to the ESAT in Chambéry.

This initiative is part of the Tourist Office's eco-responsible and supportive approach, which promotes re-use and professional integration for people recognized as disabled workers.

After completing its carbon footprint assessment, signing the charter of 15 responsible commitments for its sporting events and participating in the Val Cenis "Flocon Vert" label, the HMV Tourist Office is pursuing its commitment to a preserved territory.

"Our field crews face the demanding Haute Maurienne weather conditions on a daily basis. To guarantee their comfort and safety, we renew their technical outfits every two years. Aware of the environmental impact of the textile industry, we decided to take action by donating our equipment, which is still in good condition, rather than leaving it unused. This donation is part of a circular economy and upcycling approach, while supporting a strong social action thanks to the ESAT", explains Jérémie Silva, Director of the Haute Maurienne Vanoise Tourist Office.

Thanks to the support of Bénéthik, which specializes in actions with a social impact, OT HMV has been able to establish a partnership with the ESAT. Workers in the ESAT's sewing workshops will be responsible for removing the markings from the outfits (Tourist Office and resort logos), giving them a new lease of life. This work enables them to acquire new skills and benefit from technical clothing adapted to winter conditions.

OTHMV donated around 200 items of clothing, including cotton and technical T-shirts, zipped fleeces and ski jackets and pants. These garments were supplied to the reception, events and entertainment teams.

For the company, this human approach, shared by all departments and management, is the first step towards the launch of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program.

By combining a commitment to the environment with social inclusion, this initiative is part of a long-term, global approach by the destination to reduce its impact on the environment.
