The Board of Directors of the Tourist Office

A public organization dedicated to tourism

The Haute Maurienne Vanoise Tourist Office is organized as a Local Public Company (SPL).

An SPL is a company wholly owned by public authorities. It allows multiple public authorities to jointly manage initiatives of public interest, such as, in this case, the region’s tourism development.

The SPL Haute Maurienne Vanoise Tourisme comprises three public shareholders:

• The Haute Maurienne Vanoise Community of Municipalities
• The municipality of Modane
• The municipality of Val Cenis

Why are these local governments represented on the Board of Directors?

Each shareholder municipality has assigned a specific task to the SPL:

  • Haute Maurienne Vanoise Community of Municipalities: Tourism Development in the Region
  • Town of Modane: Management of the Muséobar
  • Municipality of Val Cenis: Management of the Archaeology Museum

That is why these three local authorities sit on the Board of Directors: they participate in decisions related to the responsibilities they have delegated to the Tourist Office. Why are these local authorities represented on the Board of Directors?

What is the role of the Board of Directors?

The Board of Directors sets the overall direction for the Tourist Office.

  • Establishes the overall strategy
  • Approves major structural decisions
  • Vote on the budget guidelines
  • Elects its President
  • Appoint the Director of the SPL

The Board of Directors consists of 12 members elected by the shareholder local governments:

  • 10 representatives from the Haute Maurienne Vanoise Community of Municipalities
  • 1 representative from the municipality of Modane
  • 1 representative from the municipality of Val Cenis

A liaison vice president for each station also serves as a direct link to the field

This structure allows for regional governance while maintaining a close connection to the realities and challenges of each resort.
