120 concrete ideas from the thematic workshops will be studied by the organizers of the Assises du Tourisme. Their feasibility, implementation and financing.
Among these actions, some are desirable, easy to implement, and with quick gains. Others are highly desirable, truly strategic, but potentially more complex and time-consuming to implement. Still others are more minor actions. At the end of December 2024, analysis of all these actions is underway to determine the next steps to be taken.
The 6 resorts of Valfréjus, La Norma, Aussois, Val Cenis, Bessans and Bonneval sur Arc share the same values and a common universe, that of Haute Maurienne Vanoise. They are all lively, hyper-accessible villages and resorts in the heart of a wild, unspoilt mountain environment, offering an exceptional variety of opportunities for skiing, discovery, adventure and rejuvenation, right next to the Vanoise National Park.
Each resort, however, has its own assets, its own identity, its own DNA. Specific features that enable each resort to attract particular clienteles

1. Structure and enhance a range of unique, unforgettable experiences
The aim is to develop distinctive, environmentally-friendly activities that highlight the region's mountain identity. This includes the creation of new facilities and the staging of experiences that are both modern and authentic, in both summer and winter, to attract a clientele in search of something new.
2.Upgrade and revitalize leisure real estate
This priority aims to improve the quality and diversity of tourist accommodation, by encouraging the renovation of second homes and supporting owners in marketing their properties. The aim is to increase occupancy rates while reducing the carbon footprint associated with accommodation.
3.Organize and promote fluid, renewed mobility
The strategy focuses on the development of sustainable transport solutions, making it easier to travel without a private car. This includes improving infrastructure for soft mobility, setting up efficient public transport services and promoting ecomobility among visitors and residents.
4.Promote and market the Haute Maurienne Vanoise destination
The aim is to enhance the attractiveness of the region by highlighting its natural and cultural assets, while adopting a responsible marketing approach. The strategy aims to attract customers who are sensitive to environmental issues, by promoting the image of an authentic destination committed to sustainable development.

This strategy is part of a long-term vision, Vision Tourisme 2030, drawn up in 2021 during the 1st Assises du Tourisme. It reflects Haute Maurienne Vanoise's determination to position itself as a benchmark mountain destination, combining respect for the environment, innovation and quality of welcome.
Tourism plays a key role in the Haute Maurienne Vanoise economy. More than 85% of the area's income comes directly or indirectly from tourism:
- Directly: accommodation, hotels, activity providers (including ski lifts, with skiing being the main source of income and development for the area) and catering.
- Indirectly: a large proportion of commercial, agricultural, service and construction activities depend on tourism.
Haute Maurienne Vanoise is a multi-season destination: 1/3 of overnight stays are recorded in summer (2/3 in winter). However, skiing remains the driving force behind the region's tourism activity.
Without mountain resorts and tourism, Haute Maurienne Vanoise would be much less populated and offer far fewer services. In fact, ski resorts were created in the area in the second half of the 20th century by local residents, with the aim of creating local employment following the decline of the secondary sector.
In addition to skiing in winter and hiking in summer, the Haute Maurienne Vanoise resorts have always offered a multitude of activities: sledging, dog sledding, snowshoeing, ski touring, ice climbing, mountaineering, via ferrata, mountain biking, cycling, wellness, fishing... They also offer a rich heritage, a lively and inhabited territory all year round, as well as large preserved natural areas. All assets that perfectly match the expectations of 21st-century customers.
The Eccho 2030 initiative, launched in December 2020 by the Communauté de Communes Haute Maurienne Vanoise (CCHMV), aims to develop and implement a territorial project for the next decade.
This initiative is based on several major observations concerning the territory:
- Dependence on tourism: over 85% of revenue comes from tourism, creating a high level of economic dependence.
- Decline in other sectors: non-tourism activities have been in decline for 50 years, accentuating the economic imbalance.
- Evasion of consumption: a significant proportion of residents' spending takes place outside the region, limiting local economic spin-offs.
In response to these challenges, Eccho 2030 has set a number of strategic objectives:
Sustainable tourism
Skiing, the mainstay of the local economy, must be preserved while protecting the exceptional environment of Haute Maurienne Vanoise. The tourism offer will be diversified to adapt to changing practices and contemporary crises.
Stimulating other economic sectors
Synergies with tourism will be created to develop sectors such as agriculture, forest management and renewable energies.
Helping people settle and stay in the area
Improving housing, services and the living environment is a priority for strengthening the region's residential appeal.
Encouraging local consumption
Supporting local commerce, short distribution channels and the pooling of resources will help boost the local economy.
Strengthening territorial cooperation
Consolidating links between municipalities and developing partnerships with neighboring areas, including cross-border ones, will be essential levers for effective collaboration.
Eccho 2030 aims to build a sustainable, balanced future for Haute Maurienne Vanoise, building on its assets while limiting its vulnerabilities.
Find out more about Eccho 2030
Based on the Eccho 2030 regional project, a course was set for tourism with the Vision of tourism to 2030. A specific marketing strategy was then drawn up for each resort, respecting its own DNA.
The Tourist Office's actions are designed and implemented within the framework of a tourism strategy defined at the Haute Maurienne Vanoise level.
This strategy stems from the Vision of Tourism to 2030 defined following the 1st Assises du Tourisme de Haute Maurienne Vanoise.

- Maintain and develop our performance on the slopes, which remains the key attraction for our main target groups.
- Highlight the specific features of each resort, particularly in winter, while drawing on shared values and a common universe.
- Win over new customers all year round, by targeting outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers and local culture, and by responding to growing expectations for eco-responsible destinations.
