This winter, holidaymakers can easily reach the Haute Maurienne Vanoise resorts by train, bus or car. Following the landslide in the Maurienne at the end of August, trains will simply stop at the Saint-Michel - Valloire station. From there, buses will take holidaymakers to their resorts. For cars and coaches, there are no changes: the A43 freeway remains open.
Access by car :
Work has enabled the A43 freeway to be quickly reopened. Car access to Haute Maurienne Vanoise resorts is therefore unchanged. Note: 88% of holidaymakers came by car last year (source: G2A survey).
Access by TGV :
TGV service for the end-of-year and February vacations:
Trains will stop at Saint-Michel - Valloire station (20 km before Modane). The destination station to be indicated when searching for TGV tickets on the SNCF website is therefore "Saint-Michel - Valloire" (and not Modane). From Saint-Michel - Valloire station, buses will provide direct connections to the resorts (bus S50 to Valfréjus, bus S51 to La Norma, bus S52 to Aussois, bus S53 to Val Cenis, Bessans and Bonneval sur Arc. Tickets for buses S50, 51, 52 and 53 are on sale on the altibus website).
The journey will therefore involve slightly fewer TGVs, and slightly more buses: which will take around ten minutes longer.
TGV ticket sales:
TGV tickets are sold 3 months in advance. Example: for a TGV ticket on January 27, TGV tickets go on sale on October 27.

Access by TER :
For holidaymakers wishing to take a TER train to Modane, the arrival station to be indicated on the TER-SNCF website is Modane. The journey is possible with TER train + TER bus connections. Example: TER train from Lyon to Saint-Michel - Valloire, then TER bus to Modane. A dozen TER buses currently serve the Modane bus station. From there, holidaymakers can take the S50, S51, S52 and S53 buses to their resort.
